AFORMIC at Toyota Summer Slam 2026 – AMR Solutions for Automotive Manufacturing

On August 26–27, our team joined Toyota Summer Slam 2026 in Georgetown, Kentucky, showcasing autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) designed for material handling and intralogistics processes in manufacturing environments.

Autonomous material handling in action

Toyota Summer Slam brought together manufacturing professionals and technology providers to explore solutions supporting modern production and automation.

During the two-day event in Georgetown, Kentucky, the AFORMIC team presented its approach to autonomous material handling, with several types of AMRs demonstrating how different transport processes can be automated within a manufacturing facility.

The event also provided an opportunity to discuss real production environments, existing material flows, and the challenges manufacturers face when introducing autonomous mobile robots into their operations.

Different AMRs for different material handling processes

There is no single AMR configuration that fits every intralogistics process. Load type and weight, transfer method, available space, production layout, and interaction with existing equipment all influence the design of an automation system.

At Toyota Summer Slam, AFORMIC showcased a range of solutions covering different material handling applications — from compact underride AMRs and cobot-integrated solutions to shuttle systems, autonomous forklifts, and reach trucks.

This variety reflects AFORMIC’s process-driven approach to intralogistics automation. Rather than adapting a production process around a standard vehicle, AFORMIC engineers and configures AMR solutions around the requirements of the application.

This approach is also reflected across the wider AFORMIC AMR portfolio, which includes customized vehicles for different loads, tasks, and operating environments.

AMR automation built around the production process

Successful AMR deployment goes beyond selecting the right autonomous vehicle. The robot must become part of the existing material flow and work reliably alongside people, production equipment, warehouse infrastructure, and other automated systems.

AFORMIC develops complete intralogistics solutions that combine autonomous mobile robots with software, system integration, commissioning, and ongoing technical support. This makes it possible to approach material handling automation as a complete process rather than as an isolated transport task.

From Georgetown to real-world intralogistics

Toyota Summer Slam 2026 gave the AFORMIC team an opportunity to present different approaches to autonomous material handling in one place and, more importantly, to discuss the real production challenges behind AMR projects.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth in Georgetown and joined us for conversations about automation and material handling.
