Advantech Supports AFORMIC in Building Reliable Intralogistics 5.0 Systems

Advantech & AFORMIC has partnered to implement a new generation of intralogistics systems – Intralogistics 5.0 – based on AGV (Automated Guided Vehicles) and AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robots). The solution responds to the growing demand for safe, efficient and scalable material flow automation in manufacturing and warehouse operations. Read more on Advantech.com

The challenge: modern intralogistics demands flexibility

Manufacturers today face rising operational costs and increasing pressure to keep internal material flows efficient. AFORMIC set out to design a system that could automate pallet transport and cooperate smoothly with operators while being certified for international markets. The result is a fleet of F-Series AMRs, designed for industrial environments:

  • F-series underride robot – a compact and maneuverable AMR designed for efficient and safe transportation in warehouses and on production sites
  • F-series pallet jack robot – an autonomous AMR designed for transporting heavy loads, capable of automatically picking up and delivering pallets of various sizes at ground level

To make these robots practical on a global scale, AFORMIC required certified industrial hardware, stable long-term availability of components, and the flexibility to expand into new regions.

Advantech hardware as the backbone

Advantech provided a range of hardware platforms that support fleet control, data exchange and human-machine interaction:

  • MIC-770Q – the main edge controller for vehicle coordination
  • UNO-238 – an embedded fanless PC installed on each robot
  • UTC-320 – a touch panel for operators to visualize tasks and workflows
  • IDK-1107W – a display kit for industrial interfaces in variable environments
  • AIM-65 – a rugged tablet used by operators to check robot status and scan QR codes

These devices create a continuous communication loop between fleet management, robots and operators, ensuring that intralogistics tasks are carried out reliably.

Results achieved

The AFORMIC–Advantech solution delivered measurable benefits:

  • reduced labor costs through automation
  • higher productivity in material handling
  • simplified certification and maintenance across markets
  • faster deployment in new facilities

With Advantech’s support, AFORMIC expanded its AGV/AMR offer from North America into European and Asian markets, maintaining consistent quality and service levels.

Marek Pałka, Head of the AGV Division, explains: “Thanks to our cooperation with Advantech, our AMR systems increase productivity, reduce labor costs and enhance automation. We look forward to future projects with Advantech and to supporting our customers in the best possible way.”

Importance for European industry

For companies in Poland and Central Europe, Intralogistics 5.0 provides a practical way to address labor shortages and growing expectations for process automation. The availability of Advantech technology within AFORMIC’s systems gives local manufacturers confidence in adopting AMRs with long-term service support.
